Emily Cheadle, parent, community member and advocate running for Port Moody SD Board of Education.
My professional background is in legal contracts. As a paralegal, I spent a decade working in downtown firms before pivoting to labour relations and working with unions. This experience has given me a strong foundation in collaboration and navigating complex issues with a practical and thoughtful approach. I’m an active member of the Pleasantside PAC where I have been volunteering with an amazing group of parents to raise money for a new playground. We are currently engaging with community sponsors and stakeholders to support this project.
I value building strong, lasting relationships, and I am fortunate to have many close friends who work as teachers and educational assistants. For more than 20 years, I have continued to volunteer annually at the same music camp that I attended as a student. The camp was run by a teacher who has become a close friend, and I have had the privilege of staying connected to the program and its community for many years.
Those relationships have given me a genuine appreciation for the dedication educators bring to their work and the impact they have on students. As a trustee, I intend to draw on those relationships while continuing to build new ones, so that I can listen to the experiences and concerns of our community and bring those voices forward to the district.
I am still in the process of getting my website up and running, but in the meantime, please feel free to send me any questions you may have. I would genuinely love to hear from you, learn what matters most to your family, and meet more of the people who make Port Moody such a wonderful place to call home.
