Douglas Meggison is proud to stand with the NL NDP as the candidate for Placentia–St. Mary’s.

Doug first made Newfoundland and Labrador his home in 1991. Building on his Bachelor of Nursing degree, he went on to complete a Master’s in Health Services Studies at the Nuffield Institute in Leeds, UK. He later taught at the Placentia and Carbonear campuses of Eastern College (now the College of the North Atlantic), helping to train the next generation of health professionals.

Over the years, Doug has been a strong advocate for workers. He’s served as a union organizer in healthcare and as a contract negotiator, standing up for fair treatment and better working conditions.

Originally from Edmonton, Doug has also been deeply involved in community leadership. He chaired the Edmonton Social Planning Council, was appointed as a public library trustee, and even ran twice for city council. As a long-time supporter of the NDP, he worked tirelessly to back the new government of his neighbour, Premier Rachel Notley.

Now, Doug is bringing that same dedication and experience to the people of Placentia–St. Mary’s, fighting for stronger healthcare, fair workplaces, and a brighter future for Newfoundland and Labrador.
