Liberal

  • Provide free school supplies for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 6

"A re-elected Liberal Government will give parents and teachers a financial break and peace of mind by providing free school supplies for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 6, beginning in September 2026.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will work with NLSchools and Le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial, in consultation with educators, to issue bulk requests for proposals from retailers to provide standardized school supplies for students across the province. Schools will then distribute supplies as required throughout the school year. By ordering in bulk, we will be able to keep costs low while delivering high quality supplies to every student in the province.

This will cost an additional $3 million per year, and directly helps families in Newfoundland and Labrador with the cost of living. "
