Biography
Troy has worked and lived within the riding of Saint Croix for over 20 years, however his connection to the region extends back over 50 years from visiting family at their home in St. Stephen and Oak Bay.
He was born and raised in Bathurst, New Brunswick, on the Bay of Chaleur. After graduation from Bathurst High School, he attended the Nova Scotia Agriculture College Dalhousie Agricultural Campus where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He then headed westward to work in research at the University of Alberta in Edmonton followed by employment within the agriculture sector in Medicine Hat. Troy returned to the east coast to obtain a Master of Science degree where he conducted research at the Saint Andrews Biological Station followed by term contract positions with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Saint Andrews and at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre. Following this, he began employment with the Provincial Department of Environment and Local Government, Government of New Brunswick as a biologist working predominately in coastal Charlotte County. For the last 4 years he has worked within the Waste Diversion Branch of the department to provide a research capacity and assisted in the improvement of current recycling programs as well as the development of new programs.
Troy is a firm believer in giving back, representing schools attended both academically, as gold medalist at the Canadian National Science Fair in his youth to awards during university, as well as through varsity athletics throughout middle, high school and college. He has coached youth soccer, volleyball and basketball and served as a judge at National Science Fairs Youth Science Canada - Sciences jeunesse Canada and Envirothon at the provincial Envirothon NB and international levels NCF-Envirothon. Within the community he has participated in community cleanups and is a volunteer at the Charlotte County Fall Fair. He has also served his country as a member of the 2nd Royal New Brunswick Regiment Army Reserves.
Employment as a provincial government employee has provided him with the opportunity to serve his province by addressing issues on the provincial level. Over the course of the last number of years, there are numerous issues negatively impacting southwest New Brunswick. It is for this reason he has taken a leave of absence from the Government of New Brunswick with the goal of focusing on serving the riding of Saint Croix within the provincial government to help make his community a better place to live.
