Multilingual activist with background in seniors services and housing advocacy. Professional translator and interpreter fighting against linguistic discrimination.
Mark Lee was born and raised in East Vancouver and moved to Richmond 6 years ago with his partner while looking for an affordable community to call home. They have happily settled in the Garden City area. Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts from UBC, is a Certified Member of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC and is a well respected interpreter in immigration and criminal law.
Mark is a translator, interpreter, and fierce advocate for language accessibility. He has chaired a service and advocacy non-profit society, lobbied the provincial government for language access at all points of contact in the health care system, organized non- English speaking tenants of seniors housing against demoviction, and been an outspoken proponent of official multilingualism in the civic process. He is committed to removing barriers to city services for all Richmond residents.
