Biography

from their website

Denise Reimer has spent more than 30 years serving British Columbians through emergency health services, local government and community leadership.

Her career with BC Emergency Health Services has included working as a Primary Care Paramedic, Emergency Medical Dispatcher and Critical Care Coordinator, as well as operational leadership roles. Her work in emergency services has given her firsthand experience of the importance of accessible healthcare, strong public services, teamwork and making thoughtful decisions when circumstances are changing quickly. In 2025, Denise was awarded the Governor General of Canada’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal.

Denise’s commitment to public service also includes elected municipal government. She served as a City Councillor for the City of Salmon Arm and as Deputy Mayor, with responsibilities involving planning, economic development and community engagement. She worked closely with residents, city staff, regional partners, community organizations and other levels of government.

Her connection to community extends beyond her professional career. Denise has served on community boards and organizations, volunteered with hospice, and participated in international disaster-relief deployments with Canadian Medical Assistance Teams in Pakistan in 2010 and the Philippines in 2013.

Through her work with Implicit Career Services, Denise has also supported individuals and organizations through leadership development, career development, organizational change, conflict resolution and group facilitation. She brings a strong belief in listening, understanding different perspectives and finding practical ways forward.

Denise believes effective representation starts with being present and accessible. Her healthcare background has given her a particular appreciation for the importance of local access to healthcare, including the role of an urgent care centre within the electoral boundary. She believes an MLA should be visible in the community — boots on the ground, accessible to residents, listening to their concerns and bringing local perspectives to the Legislature and government.

With an Advanced Certificate in Local Government Leadership and decades of experience working with people, public services and community organizations, Denise brings a practical, collaborative approach to public service.

For Denise, public service has never simply been a position. It has been a responsibility, a commitment to community and an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the people and places she serves.
