BC Conservative
  • Never raise taxes

    "Lorne Doerkson, leader of the Conservative Party of BC pledged today that his new government will never raise taxes on British Columbians." — conservativebc.ca, retrieved 2026-10-13

BC NDP
  • Introduce a new marginal tax bracket on income over $1M, at a rate of 24.5%

    "The increase to the top two tax brackets and introduction of a new bracket on income over $1 million would start in the 2027 tax year and are projected to raise $225M in 2026/27, $925M in 2027/28, and $1,000M in 2028/29." — bcndp.ca, retrieved 2016-10-13

  • Increase the marginal tax rate on income over $190,405

    "The changes only impact the top 3.88% of British Columbian income earners. The increased tax rate only applies on income earned over each tax bracket threshold. There is no change to the taxation on the portion of income of any taxpayer that is below $190,405, so an individual with a taxable income of $200,000 only pays an increased rate on the last $9,595.

    For very high income individuals:

    1. The portion of their income between $190,405 to $265,545 will be taxed at 18.8%
    2. The portion of their income between $265,545 and $1,000,000 will be taxed at 22.5%
    3. The portion of their income above $1,000,000 will be taxed at 24.5%."

BC NDP
  • Provide $1.5M to the Western Jewish Community Security Network to strengthen security at Jewish schools, synagogues, and community centres

    "A BC NDP government would provide $500,000 yearly to the Western Jewish Community Security Network to strengthen security at Jewish schools, synagogues and community centres across British Columbia. The funding would continue for three years." — bcndp.ca, retrieved 2026-10-13

  • Convene a summit of police services across BC to strengthen coordination regarding extremist activity

    "A re-elected BC NDP government would also convene a summit of police services from across British Columbia to strengthen coordination on investigations, intelligence and enforcement related to extremist activity. Additionally, through the Federal-Provincial-Territorial ministers’ forum, it would press for a coordinated national approach to investigating and deterring white nationalist, white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity." — bcndp.ca, retrieved 2026-10-13

  • Permanently double provincial funding for public libraries to $28M/year

    "The commitment would provide stable, long-term funding for B.C.’s 71 public library systems, helping libraries respond to the needs of their communities. The additional $14 million in annual provincial funding could help libraries:

    1. stay open for longer hours or additional days;
    2. expand digital collections and reduce wait times for e-books and audiobooks;
    3. provide more free community, family and literacy programs;
    4. expand free access to high-speed Wi-Fi, computers and workstations;
    5. offer more lifelong learning opportunities, including digital skills and technology training; and
    6. provide more opportunities for newcomers, seniors, students, families and job-seekers to access information and connect with their communities."
