"BC NDP candidates Amanda Burrows (Vancouver-Strathcona) and Terry Yung (Vancouver-Yaletown) today announced consistent funding for the Ashtrey Recovery Resource Centre, as well as funding for an additional centre in the Downtown Eastside, to allow people experiencing homelessness across the Downtown core a place to congregate indoors during the day." — bcndp.ca, retrieved 2026-10-13

"The new day space centre, which will be located in the Downtown Eastside, will provide people who are experiencing homelessness or living in SROs across the downtown core a place to congregate during the day. Right now, people are able to stay in a shelter at night but have nowhere to go during the day, contributing to the very visible challenges we see on the streets downtown.

When open, the centre will operate 12 hours per day, seven days per week so people have a place to go. It will be staffed by peer support workers, and will also provide on-site connections to primary healthcare, addictions treatment, and employment services."

"The BC NDP will also introduce a new Unsold Condo Tax on finished condos left empty for more than a year. Starting at 2 per cent, the tax will increase by 1 per cent for each additional year a condo remains unsold, pushing developers to sell finished homes at prices people can afford. The plan could unlock up to 5,000 condos for British Columbians." — bcndp.ca, retrieved 2026-10-13
