Maita Santiago is a long-time Burnaby mom who was born in the Philippines and raised in Canada. She lives in Metrotown with her husband, two teenagers and dog Siopao.
Maita was first elected as a Councillor in 2022 and is running for re-election to make sure Burnaby continues to be a caring and well-managed city.
During her term, Maita and the BCA delivered on more affordable housing, better accessibility, stronger community connections and improved climate action. She also advocated for seniors, youth, women, newcomers, and working families so their needs are better reflected in city decisions.
Maita is the Council Representative on the Burnaby Public Library Board, is Chair of the Access Advisory Committee and Vice-Chair of the Social Planning, Environment and Public Safety Committees.
Maita graduated from SFU and before being elected, she worked as a front-line service provider and operated a family daycare.
