They may still in the future!
Biography
Jack is a 22-year resident of Beaches-East York – long enough to have raised a family there. He works full time as a software development professional and is an amateur astronomer.
Primarily he is running to combat the decades-long inertia in, and latest excuses to avoid addressing climate change.
As a result of raising a family he understands the challenges and rewards of parenting, importance of good public schools, and of the economic challenges faced by young adults – in particular the high cost of housing.
He has community experience in supporting independent living among people with disabilities.
He is centrist, values even-tempered discussion and debate, integrity, and evidence-based solutions to problems.
Reason for running
I joined the Green Party of Ontario (GPO) because we are in an urgent climate crisis. Our governments almost never deliver on the climate change and environmental solutions that are needed. They get mishandled, watered down, or in the case of the refundable carbon tax, sabotaged. I had to seek out the only party that has the environment in its DNA.
Since then I’ve learned that the GPO plays a vital role in Ontario politics: Greens are doing a great job generating the new ideas that others need to hear.
I want to fight for more fairness. Improving fairness is the defining issue of the current campaign Life in our province and riding has become a lot more unfair under Doug Ford’s government.. People living on lower incomes, people with disabilities, tenants, young adults and families, and others are more challenged today than I have ever seen.
Reading through the GPO 2025 platform gives me hope. Its solutions are comprehensive, thought out, and bold – emphasis on the bold, because boldness is what our times call for.
Ford portrays the opposition as tax-mad. It’s not true: simply cancelling his expensive and oh-so-20th-century projects, such as Highway 413 and the infamous Ontario Place spa, will allow us to start closing the fairness gaps.
Please have a look at our platform for more details. I love the way it is presented online at gpo.ca. I hope that you will also see that the GPO is showing how we can move on from the current government’s neglect.
