Biography

submitted to Port Moody's elections office by the candidate

My name is Eric Davis, and I'm an independent policy researcher running for Port Moody city council.

I'm running because city hall needs to get serious about protecting the rights of working people and tenants during an unprecedented wave of capital influx and developer demands. A city hall that seeks to represent all of us would keep vacancy controls, a community land trust, a city owned construction company, and rent bank all on the table. We should also join the growing chorus for the province to amend the community charter, where we may institute an additional property tax on single family homes priced over $4,000,000 that scales progressively. I also believe it is time to end the class partition of the villages of Anmore and Belcarra from our city, and will be an unrelenting advocate for the province to legislate amalgamation. These goals in conjunction would give the city the tools we need to pursue responsible development that heeds the needs of workers and renters first. A better future for our city is possible, and it starts with us.
