My name is Dylan Kruger and I am running for Delta Council as a member of George Harvie’s Achieving for Delta team. I am born and raised in Delta, and presently reside in Tsawwassen with my wife Katie.

I am running for Delta Council in order to fight to keep young families and seniors in our community. So many friends that I went to school with are, like me, getting married and having children. And though they love Delta, they are being forced to move out to Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack or even further because of a lack of housing options for them here.

I also know many empty nesters and seniors who are looking to downsize and free up their family homes for new families, but are unable to do so because of a lack of mid-level housing options for them here. If elected, I would fight to create those options while still preserving the integrity of our existing communities.

I also believe Delta is vastly underserved when it comes to public transit. This contributes to the serious congestion we face on Highway 91 and at the George Massey Tunnel. I believe we need to elect councilors who have actually taken the bus for a living in order to more effectively advocate for improvements to our transportation system. You know, when you look at a transit map, Delta is where they put the index. We need to literally get Delta on the map.

And of course, one of the biggest ways to solve congestion across all of Delta is to continue Lois Jackson’s fight for a replacement for the aging and seismically unsafe Massey Tunnel.
