A livable City, full of young families.

Misc. topics

Affordable Housing

More 3 bedroom housing solutions for families to grow int, such as: Townhouses, Rowhouses, Duplexes, and 3-bedroom condo units. These measures will help address the supply side of the problem, but we also need to address the demand side as well - visit my website for more information.

Community Safety and Security

The safety and well-being of Coquitlam residents must always be the top priority for City Council. There must always be appropriate levels of funding for Coquitlam Fire & Rescue and the Coquitlam R.C.M.P.

As your City Councillors, Rob Mazzarolo and I will:

- Build on our positive relationship with the Coquitlam R.C.M.P.;

- Friendly and visible police officers can deter a variety of illicit behaviours;

- Support local search and rescue and other community groups that teach and enhance safety;

Development and Overdevelopment

We need responsible development that serves the interest of residents, not special interest groups.

As your City Councillors,  Rob Mazzarolo and I will:

- Prioritize the construction of 3-bedroom townhouses and row-houses while maintaining community character;

- Require big developers to prioritize 3-bedroom condo homes to support Coquitlam families;

- Require big developers to supply more below-market rentals;

- Discourage non-resident speculators from distorting our housing market to the detriment of local buyers;

- Mandate big developers market pre-sales of new real estate developments to local residents firs;

Homelessness

Address the root cause which is affordable housing. Our Responsible Development Platform will help address homelessness at its source. Mental Health is also a large contributor to homelessness and Coquitlam's Riverview lands are ideal for the City (and Province) to utilize.

I believe the Riverview lands should be retained for mental health services and, if elected, I will be working with the Provincial government for more funding.

Parks

Coquitlam's parks encourage residents to meet one-another, assist in celebrating community achievements, and allow our City’s community clubs and organizations to provide an invaluable service to all Coquitlam residents.

As your City Councillors, Rob Mazzarolor and I will:

- Ensure Coquitlam's public places remain accessible and affordable;

- Continue to invest in recreational parks, facilities, and locations, for future generations to enjoy;

- Work with our community clubs and organizations to assist them in achieving their goals;

Recreation

- Ensure Coquitlam's public places remain accessible and affordable - Continue to invest in recreational parks, facilities, and locations, for future generations to enjoy - Work with our community clubs and organizations to assist them in achieving their goals

Sports and Leisure

Sports and Leisure are vitally important to Coquitlam. I grew up playing lacrosse, hockey, and other sports here. I want to continue to invest in Sports and Leisure in Coquitlam.

As your City Councillors, Rob Mazzarolo and I will:

- Ensure Coquitlam's public places remain accessible and affordable;

- Continue to invest in recreational parks, facilities, and locations, for future generations to enjoy;

- Work with our community clubs and organizations to assist them in achieving their goals;

Taxes

As your City Councillors, Rob Mazzarolo and I will: - Ensure that any future request to increase taxes is scrutinized and justified; - Look to other municipalities to ascertain best practices and explore new technologies and methods which may provide for savings;

Youth

As one of the younger candidates in this election, and also the candidate with the youngest family (two sons under 3 years old), I understand the pain our youth are going through with respect to finding gainful employment and livable housing.

To achieve real change for our generation, and the next, we need to elect new politicians, ones that understand and share your pain. Vote Robert Mazzarolo and Darryl Stickler for politicians that will advocate for your interests.

Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
Commercial Banker, loving father, and engaged citizen.

I grew up here and am committed to providing Responsible Development so that our next generation can afford to live here and raise their family's in this great city.

Residents need a voice on Coquitlam City Council. Our current councillors represent big developers and other special interest groups, but who’s looking after you and your interests? I am.

My name is Darryl Stickler…. I am 31 years old, I have a Business Degree in finance from S.F.U., and I am committed to providing Responsible real estate Development that serves the interests of locals, and not special interest groups.

I work as a Commercial Banker, and regularly negotiate with developers and business owners. Negotiating for the benefit of my community and getting more for Coquitlam’s residents, is what I can do for you and your family, on City Council.

I attended Porter Elementary, Como Lake Middle, and Centennial Secondary. I give back to my community by coaching youth lacrosse for Coquitlam’s boys and girls.

Today, my wife, Dawn, and I live with our two sons, in the New Horizons neighbourhood, across from Lafarge Lake.

I am a Stickler for Responsible Development, Parks and Recreation, and Restoring Communities.
