My wife and I are long-time Surrey residents of the Fleetwood area, since 1986. Having been involved in Surrey for many years on several committees, boards, and Surrey City Council, I bring a wealth of leadership experience to the role of Surrey School Trustee.
Over the past term, our team has developed a strong collaborative and creative working relationship as we worked to establish the best possible learning environment for Surrey Students. My goal is to always promote student success, allow employees to achieve career satisfaction and for parent voices to be heard. I will continue to engage in effective communication with all stakeholders; prudent management of the available financial, capital and human resources; and continue to advocate to our Provincial Government to ensure that they are aware of our needs and encourage them to respond favourably to our requests.
My wife and I are long-time Surrey residents of the Fleetwood area, having made it our home since 1986. Our three adult children are all graduates of Surrey Schools. Having been involved in Surrey for many years on several committees, boards, and Surrey City Council, I bring a wealth of leadership experience to the role of Surrey School Trustee.
I was most recently elected to the Surrey Board of Education in 2014, during which time I have been a member or liaison of many sub-committees, including Chair of the Policy Committee and liaison to the Surrey Crime Prevention Society, where I served as Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer from 2009 to 2014.
I was elected to Surrey City Council for two successive terms (1999—2005). I was also previously elected to the Surrey Board of Education for one term (1996—1999), where I served as Vice Chair for all three years. I have also served as Chair during my time on both the Surrey Parks & Recreation Commission (1997—1999) and Surrey Public Library Board (1990—1996).
I have held several management roles, beginning in 1984, including nearly 20 years of combined experience at the Vice President level. Since 2004, I have been the Vice President of Operations for the Credit Counselling Society, a charitable non-profit society whose purpose is to educate Canadians in the wise use of credit and to help them manage their personal household finances and credit obligations.
