Biography

from their website

Cory Wagar is your NDP candidate for Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

Born and raised in Etobicoke-Lakeshore, Cory works as a freelance media specialist, focusing on key issues to the community he calls home. As a graduate of Humber College Media communications, Cory has produced media as a videographer, photographer, and graphic designer for a range of businesses.

Having had to use the busiest food bank in Toronto, Cory knows and understands firsthand the issues people face with rising food insecurity and the increased cost of living.

That’s why Cory has dedicated his work to tackling the many issues facing Etobicoke-Lakeshore, including the rising cost of living and food insecurity.

After being invited to address Toronto City Council by the mayor, he successfully lobbied them to adopt policies on rent relief, increased funding for the local food bank, and preventing grocery prices from increasing.

He organized community members to take action to reveal the damage from the Mimico Creek Oil Spill in 2023. Cory personally reached out to every level of government to ensure that the community's voices were heard to keep the government accountable for the clean up.

He is still fighting to uncover which forever chemicals are in the creek to find out the true environmental impact of the oil spill on the community. The cleanup has not been to Cory's standards.
