I’ve proudly called Edmonton Centre home for seven years, having previously lived in St. Albert. I’m married with two sons in university, who inspired my entry into politics after their disappointment with Justin Trudeau’s unfulfilled promise of electoral reform.
With 15 years in Alberta’s Oil & Gas industry and 25 years in the Canadian Airforce, I’m now advocating for electoral reform. In 2021, Randy Boissonnault was elected with only 34% of the vote, leaving 66% of voters without representation. Edmonton elected MPs in nine ridings, but eight sat in opposition, largely ineffective for four years. This is the reality of our First Past the Post system.
Many countries ensure every vote counts, where votes directly translate to seats in parliament. Imagine voting and knowing your choice contributes to your party’s representation. This system exists in most countries, where votes equal seats.
This one time, let’s not waste our votes. Instead, send a strong message for the electoral reform we want and need!
