National Context
Canadians are being squeezed. Housing costs are out of control, essential services are underfunded, and climate disasters are becoming the norm. Neither the Liberals nor the Conservatives are offering real solutions, like taxing excess corporate profits, investing in public housing construction, or radically expanding public healthcare to include comprehensive mental health services, dental care, and universal pharmacare for all. They are unwilling to stand up to billionaires and the corporate cartels taking over every sector of our economy. The big banks, big oil companies, big supermarket chains, and others need to be reined in or broken up. It’s time to bring the billionaires down to earth and focus on making life better for working and middle-class people.
Corporate Monopolies & Billionaires are the Problem
Across every sector, a few dominant players collude to control markets, fix prices, and rake in massive profits at the expense of ordinary Canadians. From the Big 5 banks and oil giants to telecom monopolies and grocery oligopolies, these corporate cartels exploit workers, gouge consumers, and block progress on climate and economic justice. Our campaign is about taking them on, breaking their grip, and shifting power back to people and communities.
Local Impacts
In Mississauga-Streetsville, residents are feeling the strain of corporate monopolies and the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few billionaires. Local businesses struggle to compete against the dominance of large corporations, which stifle innovation and drive up costs for consumers. Meanwhile, everyday people face rising living expenses, from grocery prices to housing costs, while wages stagnate. Many families in the community are left struggling to make ends meet, while the wealthiest few continue to amass power and resources. This growing inequality leaves residents feeling disconnected and powerless. Bushra’s campaign is focused on addressing these issues head-on, advocating for policies that break up monopolies, protect local businesses, and ensure that the wealth generated in Mississauga-Streetsville benefits all, not just the few at the top. By engaging with residents, knocking on doors, hosting community events, and organizing around economic justice, the campaign is creating a path for real, community-driven change.
