Andrew Hill: A Life of Service, Community Building, and Equity

Maritimes-raised Andrew Hill is driven by a commitment to equity and community-focused values, making him a natural fit as an NDP candidate.

Andrew was raised in the Halifax region of Nova Scotia in a working family of five. At the age of 19 he applied for a position in and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2005. His career spanned over 17 years where his first and last postings were CFB Gagetown in Oromocto New Brunswick.

His career in the Armed Forces developed in Andrew valuable leadership and organizational skills. Throughout his storied career Andrew attained significant procurement and contracting experience and he has a commitment to fostering strong, equitable communities, which is evident in his role running a veteran peer support group. In the community Andrew has spearheaded initiatives to provide necessities to unhoused individuals, and has volunteered with groups such as ParaSport NB and ExploreNB.

Andrew has been living in Charters Settlement NB for the past 5 years, connecting him back to the roots of his career when he was first posted to Oromocto in 2005. He cherishes the strong sense of community and the willingness of neighbours to support one another. Andrew's dedication to equity and community-building underpins his every endeavor, driving him to make a positive impact on those around him.

Andrew believes that serving as an NDP candidate will enable him to further advocate for social justice, equitable opportunities, and community well-being. His passion for making a difference, combined with his experience and values, positions him as a strong representative for his community.

On a personal note, Andrew is happily married to Tricia, his high school sweetheart, for 19 and a half years. Together, they have a son named Carter. Andrew's service history comes from a lineage that dates to the Second World War, with both his father and grandfather serving in the Canadian Army. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys gardening, exploring the vast forests of New Brunswick, and is particularly passionate about making maple syrup.

Reason for running

To make positive change for Canada and Canadians

Living in Canada is difficult for many right now. It's clear that the current systems aren't working for us. My service in the Canadian Army has taken me to many places around the globe that has highlighted to me just how bad wealth disparity has become. It's time for the wealthiest among us to start paying their fair share, and being responsible with their wealth and power.

As an MP, I will fight hard for working Canadians and families every day to make life more bearable, strengthen our health-care system and promote social systems that will benefit workers and expand our economy.
