I am deeply concerned about the safety, well-being, and accessibility of essential services for Calgarians. Recent local incidents highlight the urgent need for action. I promise to advocate for the opening of more detox centers in Calgary so that those seeking help aren’t left waiting for a week or more, risking their lives in the process.
Safety at our train stations has become a growing concern, and I will push for increased security measures to ensure that all residents—commuters, workers, students, and families—can travel without fear.
Housing is a fundamental right, yet too many people are struggling to afford rent, find accessible housing, or keep up with rising costs. I will work alongside our provincial government and local councilors to expand low-income and subsidized housing options, as well as ensure more affordable housing for seniors who deserve security in their later years.
Additionally, I will advocate for the completion of the Green Line from north to south as planned. This vital project will allow Calgarians to commute efficiently, connect communities, and strengthen economic opportunities throughout our city.
Calgary needs real solutions, not delays. I am ready to fight for these changes because our city deserves better. It’s time to take action. #DoSomething

Oil and gas
Green's promise
"Eliminate all fossil fuel subsidies immediately, including tax write-offs for LNG, oil, gas, and coal projects. No public funds should support continued fossil fuel expansion." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25

Green's promise
"Support a global tax on pollution from aviation and shipping, ensuring major international polluters pay their fair share. Work with global partners, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to develop a fair and effective system." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25

Tax fairness
Green's promises
"Increase the corporate tax rate from 14% to 21% for businesses with profits over $100 million ($44 billion in revenue)." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Introduce a permanent Windfall Tax (Excess Profit Tax) on large corporations, including banks, grocery chains and fossil fuel companies, to prevent profiteering at the expense of Canadians. This tax will apply at a rate of 15% on profits exceeding 120% of a company’s average profits over the previous four years, ensuring that large corporations contribute fairly when they generate excessive gains." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Implement a 0.35% Financial Transactions Tax (Tobin Tax) on trades involving stocks, bonds, derivatives, and currencies. This measure will help curb speculative trading practices that destabilize markets and generate significant revenue for social, economic, and environmental programs."
"Implement a progressive wealth tax on net wealth above $10 million. The tax would apply at a rate of 1% on net wealth over $10 million, 2% on net wealth over $50 million, and 3% on net wealth over $100 million. This policy would impact only .5% of Canadian households." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Strengthen Canada’s exit tax to prevent the ultra-wealthy from avoiding taxes by moving assets abroad. We will apply a net wealth-based exit tax of 35% on assets over $10 million for individuals renouncing Canadian tax residency, ensuring those who have benefited the most from Canada’s economy must contribute significantly before leaving. Loopholes that allow tax avoidance through corporate structures and exempt assets will also be closed." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Ensure fair taxation of extreme capital gains by applying a progressive tax only to profits over $10 million. To prevent wealthy investors from avoiding taxes indefinitely, we will also limit the ability to deduct past investment losses to a maximum of 10 years." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Revise Canada’s Select Luxury Items Tax Act to eliminate the “lesser of” rule and apply a flat luxury tax rate (e.g., 10% or higher on the full purchase price).
» Increase the tax rates for extreme wealth purchases (e.g., higher rates for private jets and superyachts.)
» Close corporate loopholes that allow businesses to buy these assets to avoid the Select Luxury Items Tax.
» Exempt Canadian-made commercial and recreational vessels from the Select Luxury Items Tax, to support small manufacturers and coastal industries."
— Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Close stock options and capital gains tax loopholes, which primarily benefit wealthy executives." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"End off shore tax evasion by taxing hidden funds and requiring proof of foreign business operations." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Review and phase out corporate subsidies that fail to deliver proven economic, environmental, or social benefits, with priority given to eliminating subsidies that:
» Distort markets without improving public well-being.
» Contribute to corporate concentration of key industries.
» Benefit large corporations disproportionately over small businesses and workers.
» Are provided to corporations with majority foreign ownership, particularly U.S.-based firms, undermining Canadian economic sovereignty.
» Fail to pass a cost-benefit analysis."
— Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Increase transparency on business subsidies by mandating full public reporting on corporate tax benefits, grants, and loans — including which corporations receive them and their economic impact." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25

Reason for running
Reason for running:
I do not come from a political background. My father was a butcher and meat cutter from Germany, and my mother, a hairdresser and barber from Chile. My path in life was shaped by time and experience. An avid reader, I was fortunate that my parents subscribed to Chickadee and Owl—children’s magazines that introduced me to animals from around the world. My father often took us to Gatineau, Quebec, one of the most beautiful regions on Earth, where we hiked and explored. Our family vacations never included hotels; instead, we camped, immersing ourselves in nature. These experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation for the environment and a passion for protecting our planet.
Biography
Many of the natural places I explored in my youth no longer exist.
Traveling to different countries exposed me to diverse cultures and people. My father strongly believed in the power of this experience, and it became one of the most valuable educations of my life.
As a first-generation Canadian, my interests expanded to human rights, beginning with gender equality and later advocating for LGBTQ2S+ rights. While raising my children, I pursued my education and entered the field of teaching. Eventually, my love for Canada’s mountains brought me to Calgary.
Upon arriving, I began volunteering—organizing social events for vulnerable community members, contributing to the Wish Foundation through the Calgary Stampeders, serving as a board member for the Banff Trail Community Association, and editing their monthly newsletter, The Banff Trail Howler.
The world has changed since my youth, and I realized that in order to take action, I had to do something. With my children now grown, that time is now. In 2023, I decided to run as the Green Party’s federal candidate for Calgary Heritage—the first neighborhood I called home in Calgary.
Over the coming weeks, my team and I will be reaching out to Calgary Heritage residents, knocking on doors, and listening to those who, like me, are struggling with the economy and the rising cost of living. The stories I’m hearing reflect the same frustrations I have felt. I appreciate your honesty, and I’m ready to fight for you.
I have faced many of the same challenges: repaying student loans, experiencing poverty and homelessness, working multiple jobs, struggling to afford housing, chasing a down payment, and making difficult choices about food security while trying to balance time with my children. These hardships were difficult then, but they are even worse for today’s young people. We are in crisis. Enough is enough. I had to #DoSomething.
Why the Green Party?
People often ask me why I chose the Green Party. The answer is simple: I am inspired by the people within this movement. Their dedication, volunteerism, and shared vision for a better future are unmatched. I have never seen a group so committed to collective success, willing to rise to the challenge.
I also refuse to run my campaign like others. No finger-pointing. No mudslinging. While I may not agree with other parties or candidates, I respect the time, dedication, and sacrifices it takes to step up and work toward change. The Green Party allows me to campaign with respect and dignity.
When I was attending Trent University, the Green Party was already advocating for municipal composting, a practice widely adopted today. They warned about rising carbon emissions and the risk of increasing wildfires—at a time when other parties focused on scapegoating single mothers on welfare. In 2023, Alberta experienced its worst air quality crisis in history due to wildfires, with Quebec and Ontario also affected. Now, decades later, other parties are finally addressing what the Green Party identified as urgent long ago.
From my own experience of homelessness, I understand the importance of safety—especially for women. The lack of affordable housing is forcing seniors, disabled individuals, veterans, and young people into homelessness. The dream of homeownership is slipping further away. Our most vulnerable citizens lack access to addiction treatment, mental health services, and safe facilities. The result? A nationwide crisis of safety, skyrocketing overdose deaths, and people freezing to death on the streets—while our government continues to subsidize fossil fuel corporations instead of helping its people.
Why are so many of our Indigenous sisters still missing or murdered? How long must this continue?
I believe we can change for the better. I see more and more people sharing in this hope. We need a revolutionary shift—new leadership that is progressive, proactive, and people-driven.
It’s time to #DoSomething.
I look forward to meeting you when I come to your home as I go door-to-door to hear your concerns. Thank you, my brothers and sisters. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
