Carol Royer is a Trinidadian Canadian entrepreneur, information technology specialist, and community activist. Carol’s main focus is to build a recovery for families and businesses from the COVID-19 pandemic and a future that we can all look forward to one that is more affordable, equal, hopeful, and secure.
Carol has seen poverty and inequality grow in Etobicoke North and Canada. While working Canadians and seniors have increasingly struggled, federal governments have concentrated on protecting billionaires and big corporations. Carol will advocate on behalf of those who are overlooked and unheard.
As COVID-19 shocked the world, the growth of poverty and inequality accelerated. Carol began ramping up her efforts to champion affordable housing, more community investment, and support services for elderly adults and palliative care patients – forging collaborations with not-for-profit organizations across the Greater Toronto area.
Carol understands the community mindset and the power of working together. She is passionate about protecting essential services and championing initiatives that fight social isolation. Her work as an entrepreneur and her activism both bring people together to solve problems while creating jobs and opportunities.
Most recently, Carol Founder and Executive Director of Buddy Services was awarded a grant of $25,000 from the Emergency Community Support Fund (COVID-19 ECSF) to provide companionship care and support to seniors. As your Etobicoke North MP, she will fight to make housing and medications more affordable and champion the creation of a green economy that fights climate change while creating good jobs.

Reason for running
1. Affordable housing: I know of renters in Etobicoke North who are spending more than 42 per cent of their income on rent - this is not right.
2. Senior care: More than 18 per cent of our Canadian population is over the age of 65 years and lacks social interaction. Researchers have found that loneliness can cause depression and contribute to the development of several psychological and medical problems and even premature death.
