I have been meeting with various groups in the southwest and listening to their concerns. I would continue to do this for the next four years or more. Listening is only the first step. Many that I have met have realistic solutions for some of the concerns, but need support to find resolution. I would take action to address the issues raised. Some of the economy of the area comes from entrepreneurs and tourism and I would assess new directions of the government to ensure that initiatives are supported. There is a grave danger of small communities becoming ghost towns without finding ways to protect and support the families that reside there.
