Jonathan Parks (He/Him) grew up in treaty 27 in central Ontario. He is passion for 2SLGBTQAI+ rights, education and healthcare, poverty reduction, and housing for the unhoused in Alberta.
Jonathan Parks (He/Him) was born and raised in Treaty 27 Territory, in the village of Queensborough Ontario. After graduating from bible college and serving as a Toronto Church Pastor to two congregations, he switched gears to the non-profit sector, where he has worked for the past number of years.
Jonathan's interest in Green politics is driven by his desire to preserve the global environment for future generations, advance 2SLGBTQAI+ rights, improve Alberta's publicly funded education system and healthcare accessibility without restrictions or discrimination, and eliminate poverty through the implementation of a guaranteed livable income and the housing first program for Alberta's unhoused population. He believes the Green Party offers unmatched, meaningful, and realistic change that Albertans desperately need today.
Jonathan, who has worked in the non-profit sector for several years, found it challenging to create meaningful change in the sector. He witnessed firsthand the slow pace of progress, as those with power in the government often lacked the will to do what was right. It was this experience that prompted Jonathan to take on a new challenge and become involved in politics as a means of effecting real change. Despite being a newcomer to the field, he is motivated by his desire to make a difference and create a better future for all.
Jonathan lives right downtown in the heart of the Eau Claire community and in his spare time he enjoys taking advantage of the beautiful bow valley for jogging and visiting local and visiting local shops. he enjoys art specifically building dioramas, horror movies, jogging, hiking, and camping.
