Raman Sharma is a long-time Surrey resident, entrepreneur, and community leader with more than 28 years of experience in Canada. Since arriving in Canada in 1998, he has built strong relationships throughout Surrey and British Columbia through business, construction, community service, cultural organizations, and civic engagement.

In 2016, Raman founded the Tradesman Association of BC and continues to serve as its President. Through the organization, he has created educational and professional opportunities for builders and tradespeople, including builder licensing preparation, energy advisor education, safety training, professional development, and networking.

Raman also founded and leads the Annual Construction Expo, bringing together thousands of builders, tradespeople, businesses, and community members. He is the founder of the South Asian Construction Excellence (SACE) Awards, recognizing achievement, professionalism, and excellence within the construction industry.

Through his education and community initiatives, Raman has helped hundreds of aspiring and working construction professionals strengthen their qualifications, expand their knowledge, and advance their careers in British Columbia. His work has also created opportunities for small businesses, tradespeople, and community members to connect, learn, and grow.

Raman has been actively involved in civic engagement, political volunteering, and community organizing since arriving in Canada. He has worked with municipal, provincial, and federal representatives and has helped bring residents, businesses, community organizations, and public representatives together to discuss community concerns, opportunities, and issues affecting local communities.

For more than two decades, Raman has been actively involved in community service and volunteer work. He has dedicated over 22 years to Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple, supporting community, cultural, and charitable activities. He also serves as a Director with Unite to Help, contributing to humanitarian initiatives, food-bank programs, fundraising, and community outreach.

His community contributions have received recognition including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Pin, recognition by Premier David Eby, recognition by Hon. Jagrup Brar at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, and recognition in the House of Commons by Hon. Sukh Dhaliwal.

Raman believes that public leadership is about listening to people, understanding community needs, bringing people together, and turning ideas into practical action.
