Biography
Nolen is a musician, labour advocate, and activist who has spoken out and put his own body in harms way to fight against US private interests, war and genocide apologists, and climate destruction. He has time and time again stood up for old growth and for Indigenous Rights. He views a healthy British Columbia as one where everyone can afford a home, has a family doctor, and where we move forward to build sustainable modern infrastructure with clear and informed consent of the Indigenous Nations who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial. A strong BC, where a government works for you, not corporations.
Reason for running
In his own words.
"The Conservatives are a chaotic party, we can't allow them to seize power. We know what Bryan Tepper's Conservatives want to do to our home. They want to allow private for profit health care to flourish in this province, leaving our public institutions to crumble. They want to cozy up to the US, rather than chart our own way forward. They want to give big polluters like oil, gas and LNG a blank slate to pilfer our province, and give us nothing in return.
In the legislature I will fight vehemently for mass construction of Public and Co-operative housing you can actually afford. I will fight for a comprehensive tax on the extremely wealthy to fund a strong and supported public health system, where every British Columbian has access to a family doctor. I will fight to make sure every last resource currently dedicated to LNG expansion, is diverted to building renewable alternatives, ensuring we move forward only with the clear, informed and continued consent of the Indigenous stewards of these lands. And in the process we will bring hundreds of thousands of good green jobs to British Columbians.
And finally, saving you where you feel it most, I will push for a pilot program for a publicly owned grocery store, so you're never extorted for that pack of carrots ever again."
Nolen believes we don't have to accept the NDP, who decry the threat of Trump, in one hand while beckoning to Trump affiliated US investors with the other. Or the Culture War Conservatives, who will happily go along with Trump's demands. A party and a candidate who voted to repeal the Human Rights Code, and to repeal DRIPA.
We can do better.
Believe in Better. And Fight for it.
