Biography

from their website

Dan Davies was elected MLA for Peace River North in 2017, and again in 2020. He is currently the Shadow Minister for Education and the Shadow Minister for Rural and Social Development, and Poverty Reduction.

Prior to his election to the Legislature, Davies served as a Fort St. John city councillor for 12 years. He also ran in the BC Liberal nomination upon the retirement of MLA Richard Neufeld, and in the Conservative Party of Canada nomination following the retirement of the Hon. MP Jay Hill. Davies’ involvement in formal politics goes back many years. He was part of the grass roots conservative movement with the Reform Party of Canada with Preston Manning and Deb Grey. Following that, Davies was involved with Stephen Harper’s Canadian Alliance and is a long time Conservative Party of Canada member. He serves on the board of the local EDA of the Conservative Party of Canada in Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies.

Outside of political life, Davies was a full-time teacher with School District 60, a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces Cadet Instructors Cadre and regularly worked in the construction industry during the summer. A truck driver, Davies also has many years working in the oil and gas sector.

Davies has long been involved in his community, serving as chair of the North Peace Justice Society, vice-president of the Legion, Chair of the North Peace Justice Society and as a member of the North Peace Shrine Club, to mention a few. He has served as a Canadian Armed Forces reserve officer for the past 28 years and sat on the professional development committee of the teacher’s association. He has been deeply involved in the cadet program both in Fort St John and in Fort Nelson. Most recently, Davies has been instrumental in creating and supporting the formation of the Northeast Immigrant Society.

For his service in the community, Davies received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal and has a Canadian Forces Decoration with a clasp for his service in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Davies has been a fierce advocate for the replacement of the Taylor Bridge, improved rural roads, economic recovery (oil and gas, forestry, agriculture, and tourism), small business representation, healthcare, and landowners’ rights.

Davies earned a master’s degree in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University and has a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University.

Davies enjoys the outdoors through hiking, fishing, camping, and enjoys rides on his motorcycle. He enjoys travel, experiencing cultures, and sampling ethnic foods. He is a lifelong resident of Fort St. John and has two beautiful children.
