• COVID-19; End the provincial state-of-emergency and continue to carefully protect the elderly and vulnerable. Current crisis management is disproportionate to the harms of the virus and causes more damage than it helps cure.
• Free Speech; Foster an environment and culture within all government institutions respectful of diverse viewpoints and free expression. Identify and eliminate any recruitment or hiring policies within government based on race, gender, or sexuality, “Critical Race Theory”, and so forth.
• Reforming Social Assistance; Government should support British Columbians in genuine hardship who cannot otherwise support themselves. However, at its worst social assistance can become a trap for many and creates circumstances that leave clients with no dignity.
• Government Accountability; move toward outcome-based funding formulas which allocate more tax dollars toward programs that deliver on their intended results.
• Education; Shift authority down to regional school boards where possible, empower parent choice in education, and have funding follow the student.
• Ending ICBC; Allow competition and innovation in all types of auto insurance, wind-down the ICBC administration and executive bureaucracy, and sell the $80M head office property at Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
Biography
Naomi has worked as a political aide provincially and more recently as a staffer for Jody Wilson-Raybould. Naomi stepped up to run against her former boss as a People’s Party of Canada candidate for Vancouver Granville in the 2019 federal election. Naomi has an extensive background in marketing and events management. She is passionate about public service and volunteers as a support worker for people suffering from addiction and PTSD.
The city’s housing and addictions problems have been rapidly expanding and are often felt in the Vancouver-False Creek neighbourhood. Naomi’s broad experience with these issues and concern as a life-long resident offer a sharp perspective for solutions where multilateral government efforts have failed to date. Naomi is also dedicated to conservative economic policies that include lowering taxes and supporting a free market. She stands behind liberating individuals to have dominion over their own lives and not be subjugated by a large, centralized government.
Naomi was more than happy to have joined the BC Libertarian Party. She believes that it is the only party that will provide real, positive outcomes and prosperity for British Columbia. In her spare time, Naomi enjoys the outdoor beauty of False Creek with her dog and is an avid skier at local mountains in the wintertime. She frequents small businesses and artisans in the area with great appreciation for the people and talents that are part of her community.
