Katie loves Kamloops, knows the city, and is qualified for this position.
She's dedicated to seeing the next phase of Kamloops growth be positive, rapid, and inclusive by understanding the issues, but being focused on solutions.
Kamloops needs a vision, and Katie has one.
Kamloops is the place “where two rivers meet”, and a treasure trove of beauty, opportunity, and possibility, as well as a natural playground with endless hidden delights.
But even more than everything it has to offer, it’s the people that make this place great.
We are known for our welcoming spirit, trademark compassion, and have a long legacy of punching well above our weight.
Kamloops is a place that I am proud to call home.
But no matter how much we treasure this place we love, we also have our challenges - many of which, like so many other communities right now, have been exacerbated and amplified by the events of the last few years.
Complex social issues, questions about priorities for infrastructure, economic pressures, environmental extremes, and a disheartening breakdown in the civil discourse that is vital to our collective prosperity.
To effectively address the most challenging issues facing our city we require bold leadership, inclusive collaboration, clear vision, and unwavering transparency.
As a city we’re on the precipice of great possibility, but the next 4 years of municipal leadership will determine whether we can mitigate these concerns in order to capitalize on our potential.
There is no fairy dust or magic wand that will get these things done; only hard work and the people willing to get in the arena and do it.
I believe that with my experience in complex financial oversight, track record with crisis management, proven organizational leadership, history of volunteerism, and deep roots in this community, I can help move our city into its next phase of growth and prosperity by amplifying the voices of its people.
No one will be more committed to this community than I am
And I want to be, and believe I am, a representative of the people of Kamloops - it’s diverse populations, it’s coveted land, it’s pursuit of truth & reconciliation, and the solutions we need in order to see it thrive in the years to come.
