I was first elected as a school trustee in 2011, and have been chair of the West Vancouver School Board since 2014. I am the president of the BC School Trustees Association and vice president of the Canadian School Boards Association. In 2019, I was appointed by the Minister of Education to the BC Teachers Council.
I have a passion for and a deep interest in public education and believe trustees play an important role in improving student outcomes while also ensuring members of our local communities have a strong voice in shaping our public education system. Creating learning environments to improve student outcomes and supporting the needs of individual students must be at the centre of trustees’ work.
I grew up in West Vancouver, attended Ridgeview Elementary and graduated from West Vancouver Secondary School. My husband and I chose West Vancouver to raise our children because of its strong sense of community and the focus on excellence in education in our public schools.
