My partner and I moved to Dawson Creek in 2012, one month after our wedding, to begin a new life in the Peace Region. Moving away from family and friends was difficult at first, but we have flourished in a small town environment and have fallen in love with the beauty and easy pace Dawson Creek affords. We have met many incredible people here that share our values, and one of the reasons I decided to run in a region often considered to be deeply conservative is to give a voice to those who we may not hear the most often, or the loudest.
I work for the City of Dawson Creek at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre, and I am the Vice President of CUPE Local 2403. I have also worked for the Dawson Creek Literacy Society, as part of the OARH Project (Organizing Against Racism and Hate) and the multicultural Room to Bloom program. I spent almost two years working at South Peace Community Resources Society, where I met many of our city's most vulnerable members. I volunteer with the Dawson Creek Pride Society and am a leader with the 1st Aurora Brownies.
I am passionate about social justice, especially in regards to labour rights, gender equity, supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ community, anti-poverty, anti-racism, and advocating for mental health resources. I firmly believe that the BC NDP is the only party that adequately addresses the issues affecting our communities, and if elected I will work to ensure the myriad voices of Peace River South are heard in Victoria.
