Affordable Housing

Affordable Housing & Reduction of Homelessness

Home and shelter is a right to every human being. Current strategy of building only high cost houses should be changed to incorporate medium and low cost housing projects and subsidized houses so as to address the needs for some retiring baby boomers, and the low income millenniums who are now subjected to “Generation Squeeze”.

Children in Care

Children and Family Development Ministry needs improvement

The ministry must start addressing children and teenagers in need in a more focused and strategic way so as to reduce suicide and mental health issues. Graduating students in foster care MUST be equipped with survival and self sustaining training, skills, trades, and life skills and coping strategies. This may reduce homelessness among the youth.

Education

Reduced Tuition Fees and Training In Smart Technology

We need to reduce and cap tuition fees to $50 per credit hour in all public universities and colleges irrespective of the program a student is enrolled in. Loans must be available to all students. The balance of the cost should come from Government subsidies. This is because education is a joint investment between the student and the government. Repayment of student loans affect the student's propensity to invest in education. High time to aggressively invest in smart and innovative green energy education and training. This will promote employability and job creation in future.

Environment and Natural Resources

Protecting Our Environment and Smart Utilization Of Resources

We must balance economic development with environmental sustainability. For example:
a) When building homes, developers need to be compelled to ensure that for every 10 homes, at least one mature tree is not destroyed (if such trees exist).
b) If a building is to be demolished, the demolished material should be recycled or repurposed.
c) Reduction of carbon emissions by incentives to produce and use clean energy machinery and vehicles.

Health care

Improved Health Systems and infrustructure

We must address the issue of wait time in hospitals, lack of hospital beds, and increase facility capacity to match increasing population in Surrey and other places in BC.

Oil and Gas Industry

Post-Secondary Education

Transit

Improved Transit System

We need strategically planned rapid transit in Surrey South connecting to the other rapid transit systems in the lower mainland. This way all residents of Surrey South have the ability to easily commute. Also there is need to expand bus services to some highly populated areas.
